Is it too cold to apply protection?

I'm in RI and it's been snowing this weekend. Luckily for me I have a garage so I was able to wash the cars with the intention of putting on a couple of coats of Zaino (Z-2) and their clear seal (Z-CS). I never had the chance to do it when it was warmer out. I'm assuming I can still do this and I'm not wasting my time?

I'll have the cure accelerator additive for the Z-2 so I don't think I have to worry about and bonding issues. The Z-CS will need time to cure though. Any idea how long it'll take to bond in this weather?

Stay warm!

Norm, you might call Zaino tomorrow and ask them. Be sure to know what temperature it is in your garage. They'll want to know. But I think they suggest not using the products if the temp is under 50 degrees....I may be wrong, but it's easy to give them a call and find out for sure.

I sent them an email and will post their answer on here. Regardless, I did apply a couple coats of Z-2 and Z-CS and it looks great and feels slick. Hopefully it'll protect as well as it looks and feels!

Good for you Norm. I do like the Zaino stuff. I've also tried the Menzerna products too. They are good as well, but I think I actually like the Zaino stuff better.

I don't have access to my email from work so I ended up calling Zaino and the guy that answered told me 32 degrees. He said once it goes below freezing, the stuff would "freeze". I don't know if he pulled that out of his @$$ or not but that's what he told me.

BTW - It was cold enough in the garage for me to see my breath. I did warm up the Z-2 and Z-CS prior to using it and nothing "froze". I guess only time will tell.

FYI - Here's the official response from Zaino...

Zaino Show car polish works best at 60 degrees or higher. However it can be
applied down to temperatures of 40 degrees. It just will take much, much
longer to dry. As much as two hours drying time is required if the
temperature is 50 degrees or below.

REMEMBER..... Zaino is very concentrated... Use Zaino very sparingly....
Less is Better...

To test if Z-2 or Z-5 is dry and ready to be removed. Wipe your finger
on a hazed section of Z-2 or Z-5. It should immediately come off and
leave a crsytal clear finish. If it smears it is still wet. You can
leave Z-2 on for hours or overnight if you desire. When it is not humid
or cold Z-2 will take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to dry. Depending
on how heavy you applied it. I have applied Z-2 in the Arizona sun and
it dried in about 3 minutes. I have also applied it in 38 degree
temperature and it took about 2 to 3 hours to dry. Be patient. It's
worth it.

Different situations affect drying times.
