A ton of hood / fender scratches...

Parked my car on a metered street... just like any other day... come outside and I see these monstrous scratches. I have absolutely no clue how they could have gotten there. I doubt it was done on purpose... maybe someone was carrying something huge and brushed against my car?

They are all fingernail deep... any tips on repair / covering them up?

When you drag your fingernail across them does it catch? If so then your SOL and you'll have to repaint or touch up. If it's not deep, I've had good results recently w/ 3m Rubbing Compound and a follow up with polish + wax. Good luck

The hood looks like somebody with a studded belt sat on the car.

is there NOTHING I can do to even make them appear less severe? (without repaint/touch-up)

If you feel brave you could possibly wet sand them to smooth them out and then try the above

Meguiar's ScratchX

Is a decent temporary fix, as it will fill in the blemishes and hide the scratches.
