Today's Detail: Acura CL-S (Metallic Blue)
Today’s Detail was an Acura CL-S for a Fellow AZINE Member . This car was definitely a challenge. There was a lot of water etching, insect etchings, heavily scratched head lights, and a ton of really deep scratches mixed in with the usual swirls. The toughest part of this detail was getting all the deep scratches out. There were at least 4 deep scratches on every panel. I was able to completely eliminate almost all of them. Some were simply too deep or all the way through the clear. Ok on with the process: Washed and clayed of course followed by a 3 step Polish. Total time 19hrs 22mins. I tried some different Polishes on this one. I was pretty much out of my Power Gloss Compound so I tried Optimum Compound with my Flex using a wool pad. I started using the wool pad on my Flex and I have to say it really works well. The correction ability was definitely needed on this one and the wool was easy to control unlike the foam pads that can “jump around” on you occasionally. The downside to this however is that I was not able to get away with a 2 step process. I tried to clean up the marring from the OC with Menzerna Nano Polish 106ff and it did a good job but I could still see some minor micro marring. Now at this point the paint was very reflective especially with the metallic flake but I just could not settle for any micro marring and decided to hit it with some Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, followed by the 106ff and the micro marring was finally gone. The paint was now super reflective and near perfectly corrected except for the random deep scratch that was not correctable. For protection I topped the paint with 4 Star UPP. Any questions/Comments are welcome.
Some Before shots
Some 50:50 shots
Headlights were terribly marred and scratched. I did not have time to wet sand them but I didn’t really need to. OC with an orange pad on the UDM knocked most of the scratches out followed by 106ff.
After Polishing
Right side Before:
And After:
Ok and now for all AFTERS: Sorry no daylight sun shots, the sun had set before I was finished so they are all Halogens! Maybe I can get some from the owner? I love this color.
Lastly a shot of the Roof. Now that’s Gloss!

wow, that's amazing... one question though, are wool pads reserved for the pros or can they be used for amateur detailers like me. To clarify, can they cause irreversible damage quickly or are they idiot proof like the foam ones? Also thats one nice SSM ronjon TL in the background..

Thanks guys, if I could figure out how to respond to multiple quotes I would but I can't seem to figure it out?? This was definitely an "all nighter" and I was not expecting to do a 3 stage polish. But boy the results were worth it

I will take some pics this afternoon, and post them in this thread. It looks even better during the day.
Once again... Thanks for the excellent work, and expect another vehicle of mine to head your way in the upcoming month or so.

Glad you are happy with the car It makes those long hours worth it when I see the customers face with a big Smile! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. I can't wait to see some more pics of the car out in the sun. Again I just love that blue metallic Paint, it's so rich and deep looking. (especially when it is swirl free )
Hey Paul, it may be time to redo your Avatar! LOL!

My friend wants to practice picture taking with his DSLR so whenever I get it done I will have some fantasticc shots. He's taken pictures of lots of other things, just never any cars yet.

Does the SIP dust up like the PO106ff or do you add a little OP?
