Tire Detailing

this is probably a really dumb question...but i've searched and haven't found an answer for this. when detailing a tire and applying the tire dressing, should you only put it on the outside wall of the tire, or also on the tread? i've never seen anyone do it, so i don't know for sure.

thanks-

I don't think you want to put it on the tread. Most dressings make the surfaces they're applied to really slick. Probably not as big an issue as putting it on pedals, but I wouldn't do it.

Yeh.. no point on the tread.... you just want the outside to look nice... not the part that touches the road..... :-)

putting it on the treads makes for really smoky burn outs!

that's what i figured (only applying to the outside wall), but just making sure. it seemed like it would be quite a slick (and possibly dangerous) idea to actually cover the tread.

thanks much for the input!

definitely DO NOT apply to the tread... not only do the manufacturers of the product say not to, but overlooking the traction dangers, it would be pointless; after a few rotations there would be none left...
