Taupe interior on a 3TL Type S

Hey guys I am curious what you would do to correct a worn bolster on my TL.
The spot currently is about half the size of a dime but is almost white underneath. I called a interior place and they want 120-140 to replace this piece is that the best bet? What would you guys do?

120 isnt bad but im pretty sure u can use a woolite water mix to remove the bluish color if that doesnt work and it bothers u then get the interior place to take care of it

It is a worn spot not a stain. Luckily so far I am not having a problem with stains, instead this is a worn spot on my bolster that looks like the "paint" or dye on the leather has worn off.

I have seen repair kits that claim to re"paint" the surface leather blending it in for repair but I am leary... I know that ultimately removing the panel is going to work just wanted to know what others have experienced.

This bolster wear seems to be a consistent problem on all performance cars...

There are two strata’s to automotive leather upholstery; the actual hide and the surface finish. The hides used are generally bovine, which must be kept hydrated to maintain tensile strength, luxurious suppleness and prevent the hide from cracking and becoming dry. Natural leather has a water-based pigmentation applied to the hide to provide an even colour. There is no such thing as a cow with blue, red or burgundy skin.

Covered leather has a further layer of polyurethane applied to provide protection from wear when getting in and out of the vehicle

So it would seem that one or more of the layers have worn and need to be replaced.
