Swirl removal on door exterior door pillars

Hello, im new to the forum and recently bought a 2007 tl type s. Under the sun theres noticeable swirl marks on the exterior door pillars or the black shiny peice on the sides of the windows. Can i use regular swirl removers like meguiars scratch2x? Its not painted and looks to me like its plastic so im not sure. Thanks for the help in advance and im really enjoying this car!

Welcome to the forum.

The pieces you talk about are plastic. You can use a mild polish on the black plastic pieces and you should not have any issues.

Those swirls are made by people using that area to close the door and the dust on the piller "sands" swirls into the plastic.

Once removed train yourself and your passengers to use the door handle to close the door.

Can you do that with the 2002/2003 model years also? It looks like the clearcoat is gone, if there ever was any clearcoat? I was going to buy a sticker to cover it up, but if I can just try and polish it that would be great...

What brands/product do you recommend to fix this?

your pillars are fading like every other 2nd Gen.. detail work isnt going to fix that.. you have to either paint them, get some type of overlay (CF, vinyl, etc.) or just replace them..
