Sweetjazz's 2007 NBP TL-S (Spring/Summer Detail)

I finally got around to my spring/summer detail a week ago. I used a completely different product/machine combination this time and I am pretty happy with the results.

                Just a few notes:

Photography is not my strong suit but I tried manipulating some of the manual settings on my parents 6 MP Kodak Easyshare Z650. I'm looking to get a Canon Digital Rebel XSi by the end of the year.

I got up early and took some sunrise pics. Enjoy.

Looks Awesome man! Now that is how NBP is supposed to LOOK!
I use many of the same products and agree with you 100%. Menz polishes are top Notch but def dust alot especially if you run it over some tape. I'll periodically add a drop of OP to cut the dusting down but you only need very little. A spray of H2O, quick detailer or pad lubricant works also.

Did the XMT360 eliminate any of the swirls on the clear bra or simply fill them in? I have used SIP, PG and 106ff on clear bra's, and all worked pretty good and did not harm the clear bra. You do have to be very careful around the edges though if the shop that installed the clear bra did not roll the film around the edge. Some installers simply cut the film near the edge.... in that case the buffer can "roll" the edge of the bra and it will look like it is "Burned". Just a heads up!

                          Thanks for the props conan777,

I did not have much success with the water or QD. I'll try the OP next time. The XMT360 most likely filled in some and corrected some. I have the 3M version and I did not want to mess it up with something aggressive. I spent about an hour taping off all of the edges. I purchased some 1/8" and 1/4" painters tape that worked out perfectly. Cleaning clear bra edges is no fun.

Would you say the Danase Glaze is worth it? I'm about to do a wash > clay > optimum polish > four star sealant. Not sure if I should throw the Danase Glaze after the Optimum Polish. I really love that wet look.

Four star for the protection, Danase Wet Glaze for the looks. I apply FSUPP first and then layer DWG on top after 24hrs. You can use DWG alone but UPP has much better durability.

Danase Glaze is definitely worth it for dark colored vehicles. I am not sure how it looks on white or silver. I think it is best to apply to one panel/fender/door and then wipe off. I found that if you let it sit too long it is harder to remove. The results are fantastic. It is also great that this product can be used over or under a LSP.

do you hand apply or do you work the glaze in with an orbital

^ What he said. I'd imagine using an orbital buffer with the softest polishing pad would be the best route. Also, how long do you let it sit before wiping off?

You can use both. Just use a slow setting for the machine.

Yeah I know what you mean. I take too long on my details to turn it into a business but then again I would probably get burned out due to the time pressure.

Out of curiosity, what product do you use for your tires? I don't like the complete wet/shiny look but just a clean appearance like yours. Maybe you just have really clean tires...

Any recommendations on which kind I should go with? I remember some of them leaving a real nasty brown color after their shine wears off. I'm hoping I can avoid that. I was thinking about picking up the Meguires tire shine (it's a spray on kind).

sounds like that would give you that oily shine finish. i dont really know as i dont dress my tires

just try to find one that has good durabillity.

I am currently using Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel. I do not like a tire to look really unnatural with a wet shiny look. I prefer a satin look to the tire. Also note that the tire itself will determine the look you get. The Yokohama tires I have are super difficult for applying tire dressing. The sidewall compound just does not accept tire dressin very well. Now the tires on my Civic look great with just an application of 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Ah, I might have to give that 303 a try since I have some coming in. If not, I think I'll pick up some Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Gel!
