Small scratches and swirls on BLK cls.

I'm beginning to notice more and more little scratches and swirl marks on my car. As you all know, black cars are probably the hardest to keep clean and shiny.

What's the best way to get rid of small scratches..not deep ones but small, barely feelable with the finger tips. Only feelable if u use the end of u're nail.

Also maybe i should take some pics, but when i had one of my panels repaired/repainted, the panel next to it looks like there's a burn mark .. sorta like tiny little dots where the black seems a little faded all in a line. How do i get those out? Would a clay bar work? Shit new car and so many little things piss me off already.

I knew i shoulda gotten the Aegan Blue instead.

Alright this combination should work like a charm to get rid of all the light-medium scratches. First I would go over the whole car with Meguiars DACP (Dual Action Cleaner Polish), then go over the whole car with (Meguiars Swirl Free Polish), then go over the car with S100 SEC (can buy at local harley dealer) and top it off with one coat of S100 paste wax. Basically your paint will be cleaner then ever, no waterspots, swirl marks, or scratches, and you will have an awesome shine equivalent to or maybe better than zaino.

Thanks a lot.. i'll give that a try..

how long does it take you figure to do all that? Any special tips when puting on the wax/polish? Let dry/haze then wipe off? Or use orbital buffer?

Thanks,

You will want to invest in a orbital buffer such as the Porter Cable.

Best place to buy is coastaltools.com

I recommend looking at threads over at autopia.org to get more info about this type of work.

one word of advice on this.......if u're gonna be the one buffing on your car, and have never done it before...dont do it, you could find up putting more swirls in than there are now. a lot can go wrong if u're buffing and dont know what u're doing, especially on black. just my .02

How hard could it be to buff with an orbital? Just putit on and don't push too hard and stay in one spot? Use clean cloths?

Most of the process is in the prep...make sure to dawn wash the car very well, then do a regular car wash, then claybar, then another reg. wash and dry before buffing. It's easy to buff a car once it's prepped correctly, but if it's not, your in for a lot of trouble.

BTW, for an orbital you don't have to worry about staying in one spot as not much heat is generated from the orbital action as opposed to circular polisher.

Like I said before...getting acustomed to the procedures to buffing and prep by reading and search over at autopia.org

I spent several nights reading threads before buying my orbital and it's numerous accessories and compounds.

Use a polishing compound very lightly (apply with wet waxing pad) then use a piece of cheesecloth to remove it , then wax the area treated ... this works on my wifes Beluga Black Range Rover.
