From side to side OR up and down

From side to side OR up and down

when you guys wash or clay your car do you move from side to side (front to rear of the car) or Up and down (top to bottom of the car?

side to side

Same goes with washing and waxing. Just go in the direction that air flows.

Based on instructions received with my first Zaino order, I have always done the hood, roof and trunk from "front to back" and, where practical, the quarter panels, door panels and bumpers from "top to bottom". Washing, claying and waxing that way is alleged to provide more shine and I have been happy with the results.

that is correct. It has to do with the light reflecting off the body panels. Less likely to show the swirls that you will invariably make.
