Should I get the Appearance Protection package?

Hi,

I'm new, and I've been perusing the forum, and also searched, but can't find any mention of the "Appearance Protection Package" that is offered by the dealers.

Just wondering if someone might direct me to a thread, if it has already been discussed, or if not, if you could provide some feedback/guidance, I'd greatly appreciate.

I'm not too bright when it comes to how to detail the car, but since just purchasing a TSX, I want to make sure I do it right.

Besides that, mine is Crystal Pearl Black, so I know I'm gonna have to really focus on maintaining it.

thanks very much

This is what a BIG FAT NO looks like:
NO
The packages that most dealers used are no better then what is offered to the fine folks on here. They get you for several hundred $ off the bat, and then make you come back annually for another application (which by then has already disposed of itself). Miss an appt, and your "warranty" for the product/protection is void.
Most of the time, they do more damage then good......They rely on poorly trained "detailers" to polish out your vehicle and apply a polymer sealant. As soon as its worn off, the truth is told in the way or halograms and swirl marks.
Spend the $ wisely on products that are highly recommended by fellow Aziners, which will last you significantly longer then the dealer applied stuff.

Thanks ED!

Now I'm a DUMMY when it comes to detailing....

I always used to attempt to detail my previous two cars, but achieved dismal results.

My BIG fear about this car, is going out to purchase a product, and then putting MYSELF into the mix to apply it.

I'm worried I'm going to apply it badly.

Any suggestions?

thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A good detailer can do it semi annually for you .. prolly cost you a couple hundred per time ..

Like Patrick says .. but a PC and a couple pads .. some Optimum polishes and a sealant like 4 Star UPP or Duragloss #105 and save a bundle and get the satisfaction.
BTW we were all detailing dummies at one time ..

Ok, so you're saying that the major detail job only needs to be done a couple times per year? ("semiannually")

IF that is the case, then the "wash every couple weeks", that I heard mentioned, was just a simple wash and dry job?

So for THAT, would that be ok to have done at a detail place?

Or might they damage it.

I see all kinds of nice cars going in there, and while they DO have some wax jobs available, I think most of the people are just buying the wash packages around $15-$20.

Is there a reason you can't wash it yourself?

If I had a dollar for all the "So I took my Acura to the detailer/corner wash/brushless car wash/ etc......and now I have all of these.......what do I do now?" letters I have read, I'd be semi retired......

Dealer gave me a "free" car wash when I purchased my '01 RL..... it came out shiny... BUT MY TAIL LIGHT WAS SCRATCHED I could never prove they did it, meh.... whatever. Since then, I always request NO WASH no matter how dirty my car is.

So I'm a procrastinator .....

I finally detailed my car last week (Wash, Clay, UDM FSPWC & UPP + Interior) after putting it off for ____ (too long).

My oak tree got it two days later. But, about 15 mins tonight and it looks brand new again.

The best reason to keep it well detailed and protected is the ease of the weekly washes! Even if you're going to get a detail shop to do the dirty work twice a year, it just makes the maintenance SOOOOOO much easier.
