Repainting Rear Bumper
Hey All,
Well some jacka$$ scraped up y rear bumper the other day at my work's parking lot and didn't even leave a damn note. In any case, I got some estimates on it and the the body shops are all quoting me approx $370.00 + to sand it down and repaint the whole bumper. I was wondering if that was a legit price and whether or not anyone knew any good places in the Raleigh-Durham Area?
Thanks os much.

Re: Repainting Rear Bumper
Price doesn't sound out of line.. I got quoted $566 just to fix some peeling clear. The bumper comes off, so you could conceiveably mount it on a stand and paint it yourself (I'd rent a booth and equipment). How deep did the damage go? Through the basecoat? My paint guy, not the body shop said wet sand the whole thing and repaint with clear in my case.

Thats probably the best price you'll find to do what you want them to do. However I got a brand new bumper because some old lady hit me in the rear, and it only cost me 575.00 including tax and everything.
It was a New Bumper and it looks mint. Cant even tell it was replaced. Nighthawk Pearl which has to be the hardest color to paint.

So the bumper got shipped in your colour? Or did you have to paint it yourself?

NO.
Just like any body shop, they purchase a new bumper, and the have to prime and paint it. Once the bumper was ready to be installed I went in to the body shop and they took my old bumper off, and put the new one on. I had to leave it with them for 6 hoursm, that way they can get everything aligned and such.
Let me also tell you that this is not some chop shop. This place on Long Island, NY is awesome. If you look at my car you couldn't even tell the bumper was replaced.
