removing interior latex paint

I just noticed a small smudge of what seems to be latex paint on my WDP right on my door handle. Is there any chemical I can use to remove it? I tried rubbing it off but it made a small scratch in the paint. TIA.

If the paint is water based, just use soap and water on a cotton rag.
