Polish ! The single most important step for appearance...........If you can remove your scratches and swirls when polishing, you dont have to apply a glaze....
So:
Wash
Clay
Polish
Seal with Poly or Nuba (Your preference, or seal with Poly, top with Nuba)

Have to say my eyes were widened when i saw all of the detailing posts, i thought wash and wax was about it...thats where i stand corrected. so i went to zaino's website and was about to order everything to fully detail my car when i came to their polishes. i have a SILVER type S and was wondering which polish would best fit my needs??
-Z-1
-Z-2 Pro (clear coated car finishes)
-Z-3 (regular paint)
Oh and also what would you prefer for leather cleaner and conditioners? Should I stick with Zaino or is there better out there? Heres what i am about to order so far
-Wash (Z-7)
-Clay (Z-18 clay bar, need lubricant though..any thoughts)
-Polish ??
-Seal (Z-8)

A lot of folks have great luck with Zaino, and its strength appears to be it longevity. But I have also heard that it doesnt reveal a lot of depth, or at least not as much as some other brands. I think this is due in fact to its lack of actually having a polishing step in its process. I now believe they have released a light polish.
The problem with light polishes is, if you have neglected you cars surface for some time, you may need more then what a light polish can accomplish.
Especially with silver, as we just had a discussion about silver over at Autopia this week. My opinion with making silver, a truelly stimulating color is you have to :
First remove any swirls and wash induced marring, you accomplish this with a couple steps of polishing.
Secondly, clean the paint of any residual oils, your polishing may have introduced. Clean with a quality paint cleaner...
Third, now you can seal. Its my belief you have to get the silver as pristine as possible, then apply your sealant. No more then 2 layers should be suffice, or you start to mute the pop and flake.....
