Question about 3M SMR & Zaino
Having never used either of these products, I'm thinking I'm going to start. My dark green CL could use some attention. The paint is okay, but it's got some minor dings from little rocks on the hood and swirl marks and little tiny scratches. I'm not looking to make it brand new, as I don't have the money to go have it detailed. I think we might have an orbital polisher lying around my house I could use.
My real question is if I use the 3M SMR to do swirl marks and such, do I need to do anything after it if I"m going to use Zaino or is washing it with Dawn enough?
thanks guys.

ZAINO
Zaino has the Z5 for swirls and scratches which is best used in combination with the Z2 polish. The 3M stuff is good...but if you are going to use the Zaino polish then stick with Zaino products all the way. Z7 is the Zaino car wash...use this after you polish the car each time you wash the vehicle. A simple DAWN wash should only be done to prep your car for the first Zaino polish. It is definitely sufficient...however if you feel the need to be certain...clay bar the car before using the polish....I don't think you need it though.
Additionally, I used to work in a Jaguar car dealership, and they used the 3M shine enhancer but that was strictly in the showroom...it does not work well against the weather elements.

Are you planning to use the SMR with an orbital polisher or by hand? I would highly suggest using the orbital. Scooter tried it by hand with bad results.
legalace,
Not sure if you've used Z5, but it does not work well at removing swirl marks. It is more of a filler than a remover. SMR is by far a superior product for removing them.
