Put Armorall on my dash and doors bad idea?

I recently applied Armorall on my dash and inside the doors.. The inside of my car looks completely
black right now.. .Was that a bad idea? I did it with the intention to protect the material, but i
heard that i'd be removing what the factory treated the material with.. How do you remove
Armorall by the way?

Most of the detailers I've talked to in the past year don't like the armor all stuff. I'm not a chemist, so I don't know all of the details.

I use the Lexol products and other stuff. The dash gets very reflective, so I try to stick with products that just protect without adding any more gloss.

I like the Vinylex Protectant for the interior vinyl. Up to this point, I've only dusted the dash (with a special dust mitt) and then wiped with a damp/warm towel.

I'm sure some of the detail masters will help you out...

I have heard a lot of bad press on Armor All. Cracked Dashes, attracts dust, etc. I have probably had 15 different cars and have been using Armor All products on my cars for over 20 years. Never once have I had a cracked dash, and I've always been pleased with the results. I use the low-gloss for interiors and high gloss for tires. I also spray it on a rag and wipe the dash instead of gooping it directly on the dash from the sprayer.

Well, I used to soak my rubber water hoses with Armor All on my old hot rodded 2002 ti, and the hoses lasted and lasted.

On the other hand, my dash cracked, and my rubber on the door frames rotted out anyway (didn't matter that I soaked the door seals).

I am not a chemist, but with so many great new products that are recommended over and over by people who used Armor All in the "old days", I will defer to their opinion. I trust people who say, "I don't know", when they don't know and tell me what they like and why. The detailer I chose to fix-up my wife's Altima has been doing this for 30 years and doesn't want to use Armor All (at least, not any more). He details show cars, celebrity cars, and regular cars. These are people that can spend any amount of money to, if they wanted to. My detailer is always trying and recommending new products and is very excited about his work.

BTW -- he doesn't charge a lot (my opinion) and actually gives me free samples of stuff to try out.

Finally, in the end, you are the customer, and if you are happy with it, you are the one who needs to be satisfied. So, if it works for you, I think you should go right ahead and use it (it is just my opinion and I haven't run head-to-head tests of all the products.)

Enjoy your choice

Are you talking about the Vinylex? If you put it on too heavy, it will run. Try using less of it, and wipe away any excess amount. See if that helps.

Also, I like both the Vinylex and 303 products.
