Preventing hard water marks when washing car

I know how to get rid of the water marks, that's not the question.

I did a search and found a tool called, waterstick. Wondering if anyone here has used it and if so, how does it work?

Of course I could go out and buy an expensive water filtration system but I'm looking for a cheaper solution untill I can purchase a real solution.

how are you getting water spots??...i can wash and dry my car without getting them, maybe you need a little technique help....important, never let your car dry on its own...even after i have washed a section, i keep spraying it down until i have completed the whole car, then i hit the whole car again with the hose, then roll it into the garage for the drying process...be quick about the drying process at first, to get most of the water off, then you can come back and do a final wipe down...as long as you not drying your car off in the sun, you shouldnt have water spots....

Yes, good tips. I do the exact same thing every few minutes to keep the car wet. Especially if you dont have shade on a warm day.

When I wash my car I first rinse the whole car down, after each section like the hood, roof, door, I then rinse that specific section to get the dirt off but I re spray the entire vehicle down as well to keep it wet. So wash a section, rinse it and rinse the other sections as well quickly. Then I'll respray the entire vehicle right before I'm going to dry it.

If you resort to NRWS, you can wash and dry one panel at a time......available in 8, 32 and 128 oz sizes, only at Exceldetail.com

You can always purchase a CRSpotless and you'll never really have the issue again. Of course, if you want to go the cheap route, you'll have to resort to some sort of inline filter or even cheaper, ONR!

Agreed, unless your car is caked in dirt from drive in the rain Optimum NRWS should be plenty good enough.

Distilled vinegar should be able to take them out, hopefully.

Just wash panel by panel. After you wash a panel down, you do a quick rinse of the entire car and then move on to the next panel.

I may have to have the buffed out. I had the same problem with my Vette...I really need to address this hard water issue. Although most of the water spots I have are due to standing rain that I was not able to take care of in time.

Your rain must be pretty bad because with all the rain I get in my part of Cali, I don't suffer any damage from rain water spots.

MY concern with a NRWS like ONR is I live in a 4 seasons area. I come out most morning and fin debree of all kinds on my car. How do you suggest using ONR in my situation and not being able to use my water due to hardness.

Not being able to pre-rinse the larger stuff off like you normally would?

It just accured to me that when it rains the rain water loosens the minerals found in the water from the previous wash causing more water spots.

You could always purchase a few gallons of distilled water for your ONR washes. The same goes for your ORN pre-rinses as well.

I actually just thought of another idea, but wasn't sure if it would work and hoped one of you may have tried it. I was in my garden shed the other day and saw one of my hose end sprayers sitting on the shelf and thought I could use this with a liquid softner solution on tough days when I was driving on salted snow roads.

What do you guys think?

Sometimes the car wash soap used can cause water spots. When I use soap that has wax in it,sometimes I will get a few water spots on my cars.

What car wash soap do you use?

AFAIK, I don't believe the car wash soaps have much to do with leaving water spots on your vehicle. It's the minerals in your tap water that cause the water spots.

Some car wash soaps leave wax behind after you rinse your car, sometimes this may lead to spots.

So if I'm to wax my car, I may get water spots? I'm not quite sure I understand your logic here.
