Polishing interior plasti-wood

I have a '10 RL that has the plasti-wood trim on the console - gray in color. I noticed a few scratches on the surface. How can I get those to not be so obvious? Can a polish be used to diminish them - by hand?

how deep are the scratches?? if they are pretty light, you can try some mild polish and a microfibre cloth to reduce/remove them, for an over the counter product you could try scratch x...but if they are pretty deep, you might just be better off replacing the piece...did the dealer scratch it up by any chance??

Just noticed the scratches yesterday so I don't think the dealer did the damage. Not sure when they occurred honestly. I did try the Scratch X (old formula) last night with no success. The product may have been old - it was very thin. I may pick up a fresh bottle or try a plastic polish (convertible window cleaner).

You could try a very fine polish with a machine if you have one handy. Menzerna po85rd with a 3 inch white/black pad would most likely do the trick. That's how I polish glossy black b pillars on bows and what not

not when you have the Griot's garage 3 inch polisher like me lol.
It was worth every penny IMO. Don't get the kit though, the Griot's 3 inch pads are not as good as the Lake Country ones.
Lake Country ones are much much denser.

OK, what I initally used was Scratch Dr. by NuFinish - too thin and did not work. As suggested by Vinnie6 I then tried my Scratch X I had on hand. It worked better but still need to spend time applying with MF towel, adding friction to get the polish to break down. This was a quick test I did last night. I will do by hand since I don't have a 3" polisher. I do have a dremel tool with a small polishing pad.

i would stay away from the dremel, you dont want to risk burning through...

Definitely don't use a dremel, if anything, pick up a hand polishing pad at walmart or an auto parts store

The Meguiars Scratch X worked fine with a bit of elbow grease and MF pad. Looks new again.
