Pics of my waxed car!

This is from a few weeks ago: when I clay bar'd, polished and waxed my car. What a fun time that was.... about 7 hours later or something, I dont remember, here is my car:

Looks good. You just need to lose that front plate.

Though it is great to see a girl that shaves....

....the model designation from the back of her car.

"knock on wood", but I've been driving without a front plate for three years now with out any problems and I live in Illinois. Prior to the NBP TL , I had a yellow Mitsu Lancer OZ and that was eye catching. I don't know where you live, but I know Carol Stream, Wheaton and Elburn have the worst cops. They'll pull you over for the smallest thing, I just moved out from my parents house couple years ago from Carol Stream.

Hey, you are lucky! I got a ticket for my tint when my car was parked!

Anyhow, of course I live right by all those.. I live in Saint Charles and always take North Ave or Army Trail and so go straight through either of those. !

I work in Saint Charles at the Resort. I know I've been pulled over in my Xterra 4 years ago for having tinted plate covers. Just a warning.

Off the top of my head (without going to my garage and looking at exact names)

Mothers Clay bar (or something like that-mother something I think?), and then Meguiars Gold line for the polish and wax.

I will look later for specific names. What products do you use?

I dont have tinted plate covers but that is lame that you got pulled over.. do you have the smoked ones? I thought about getting those. I saw a new Maxima, black, with smoken ones and it looked pretty good.

Kool....was just curious. No need to look. I use Mother's Clay bar from time to time. Great off the shelf product.
For this fall/winter, I'm planning to use some of DyNA polishes, Meg's polishes and possibly a few others on different panels. LSPs will be DyNAs and Zaino Z2-Pro/Z8 on different panels.
My car has been a mutt of waxes/sealants all summer (NXT, Liquid Souveran, old Zaino, etc).
The tough part is finding time to do this.

Did you use an orbital buffer, PC, etc. or did you do it by hand?

Did it all by hand

I wonder how much a buffer costs and how much of a difference it makes?

Although it took a long time, hours and hours (no joke, 2-3 hours to claybar, then hour to polish and then another 2-3 hours to wax) but it was a lil workout. So I enjoyed it

Funny you said you go to Zanies, I am one of the managers for that event. Typically I am upstairs doing work, but at other times I am downstairs at the ticketing office to make sure everything is cool. So if you see an asian guy in a tie and shirt with the name Phil H, that'll be me.

If you ever want to come on a Wed, Thurs, or Fri and its not a special event, let me know, I'll see what I can do. Take care.

For the smoke covers, it's being used as a coin collector. I know for sure I'll get pulled over with the smoke cover.

hahaha Actually I have the hook up there, already but thanks
Your boss, the manager, Cyndi... she lives across the yard from me (I live in those townhomes, Pheasant Run Trails) and her daughter, Riley (I am sure you have met) takes care of my puppy when I am at work. Cyndi is great. She always takes care of my friends and I when I go there. And special event or not, I am getting in

I will say hi to you next time I am there

The Porter Cable 7424 is a very popular Random Orbital Buffer for the hobbist/enthusiast. It runs around 120-130 last I checked. You also need to buy pads. Pads can add up pretty quickly. I think my first set of pads (total 6) were another $50 or so. Then you also have to look into a backing plate and counterweight if you don't buy it with a combo.
I usually take 1 to 1/2 hours to clay the car. Polishing can be 1 to 3 hours (depends on what I'm doing). Waxing/sealing....about 1 to 2 hours...all depends. Some people are fast, some are slow...I'm more towards the slow side....
it really doesn't matter if you enjoy doing it.

So you have that buffer?
I want to talk to someone who has used a buffer vs hands and how much of a difference it makes?

I have the PC. It does save me some time while polishing and waxing/sealing. It also saves the arms and shoulders from doing a lot of grunt work. And helps get a very thin and even coat when I'm using something like Zaino.

I am one of the managers for the ticketing department and Cyndi manages the show room.

Chas Elstner... check out their website...I can't post the site on here sorry.

Chas Elstner is an energetic, likable, thought provoking comedian that has an honest approach to his "on the edge" material which ranges from political humor to the observations of the absolutely absurd happenings in life. He has taken his 15 year comedy career and perfected it to a degree of sheer hysterics. Chas has the ability to captivate audiences of all ages. He has accomplished this by being a clown with Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey Circus, an off- Broadway actor and standup comedian.
