PC Question - Counterweights

How important is it to have the exact correct counterweight? From what I understand, it's there to prevent excess vibrations. I have a 7424 and I think it came with a 5.5" counterweight. My backing plate is a 5" plate, for 6" pads. Will this make a big difference? I fired it up and held it in my hand for about a minute. There was a bit of vibration, but having never used a PC, I don't know what's normal.

I'm guessing it shouldn't be too bad, and I can just leave it as is, but wanted everyone's opinions.
