ONR damages paint over time?- Your Thoughts

So today my gf told some guy at work that I helped wash her car with ONR....he then goes "Oh that stuff, yeah that stuff is bad for your car paint over time...it's worse than going to the car wash." He then goes on saying, don't use it.

Well I don't believe it! I wanted to ask him how he came to that conclusion. So your thoughts?

I don't think you're going to get much traction with this thinking here. ONRW is a pretty popular product and I seriously doubt it's as bad (let alone worse) than harsh detergents in the quckie car wash.

So does he even really know what ONR is? That's my question... Maybe this guy was just trying to be a showoff to your girlfriend pretending that he knew what ONR was. Maybe your girlfriend should ask him, "I forgot what ONR stands for, do you remember what it stands for?"

Optimum No Rinse

Basically a "waterless" wash that encapsulates dirt and allows you to clean the car without marring or a hose

It's actually more rather a rinseless wash than a waterless wash... you can't use the ONR by itself.

ONR is a God-send. I was crazy skeptical before I got it, but after using it more and more it's easy to see why it has such an excellent reputation.

i love ONR, been using it on all the cars at the house.

This is a little off topic, but does ONR remove slickness? It seems that some of the cars aren't as smooth after using it. Was wondering if anyone else is having this happen.

Not a chance...It will initially add to it, but wear off quickly. Always follow up washes with a QD or Spray Wax.......

Got it. Would you recommend using ONR as a QD as the instructions says you can do. Or should I stick to something like Meguiar's Ultimate QD?

You could use Meguiar's but I would use Optimum Spray Wax...that's what I have.

It really comes down to preference and what you plan on doing with it. There's some QD's that tailor more to the protection side of things and others that tailor to the cleaning side.

Thanks again for the information.
