Oakes - Detailed: 2009 Nissan 370z - White Pearl

This past weekend a 2009 Nissan 370Z in White Pearl snuck into the garage, I have to start locking the doors around here! The car arrived "driven" which is my way of saying dirty, in a good sense, so the prep started right away. After the prep, the body did show a good bit of swirls and micro marring, nothing tragic though, and the paint had consistent readings from the mid-high 80s to the 120s. Not the thickest, but not horrible either. The pictures will speak for themselves on the process of the detail and what was covered, Mikhael and I rather enjoyed this car as it was enjoyable to work on and we got a lot of gloss out of the pearl paint.

Process:

Menzerna 203 - Orange
Menzerna 106ff - Green
P21S Paint Cleanser
Jetseal 109

Exhaust:
P21S Polishing soap
P21S Finish Restorer

Wheels:
P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner
Swissvax brushes
Rejex Sealant

Trim:
Poorboy's Natural Look - Exterior and interior trim

Chicken Parmesean Sandwhiches and Fruit punch - Energy

Quick overall shot of the car, and some other pics of it as it arrived.

The wheels before and after:

Exhaust tips before and after:

Pictures of the paint after wash/clay, not terrible, but defects are present

The clay bar itself and then the defects:

Progress pics of the correction, this first pair shows the difference between the corrected fender and the uncorrected door

The rear hatch pillar:

Rear Quarter panel

A 50/50 shot of the trunk lid:

Rear Tailight correction:

Now for the final results, start with reflection photos:

Thank you for looking! Comments appreciated!

I dont care what anyone says, clean W H I T E is sexier then hell........specially with a dark brunette driving it. Any chance of that pulling it away?
Nice comeback, even if it was with Menzerna!

Not a fan of Menzerna Excel? I'm always interested to see what other guys prefer. No brunette driving this, a very cool oriental guy, he'll be bringing his summer wheels by to get the ready to go on.

Thanks Rockstar! I feel like a nerd when I explain it to clients, but I have to be to do this work! haha

Bad experience with Menzerna USA representative waaaay back. Guy was a total AH. Im about as anti Menz as you will find. Will never use it, will never sell it, will never recommend it.

I see. What products do you use instead? Just shows a bad employee can hurt the business, all about reputation.

I havent had any issues I havent been able to contain without Optimum or Four Star Pro Polishes....The FS PP's remind me alot of Optimum, but without the extended working time. So there is a learning curve when it comes to using them. They do dust a tad as well, but its manageable.
You did a great job on that Z for sure.......Trim enhancement really makes white pop....

Very nice job. I gotta pick my game up this spring/summer with my detailing. Simply amazing work. The front end of the 370 looks like a fish.

Just a question, what do you charge for this kind of job? I'm looking to get my car done at least once to see how good it can look, but I don't know what the ball park would be for a full job. Looks good, white is 100% hands down the sexiest color ever.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words!

A ballpark price for similar quality detailing, I am not posting my prices or comparing as I am not a vendor and don't want to cross any lines, but a general range of prices I can give.

Depending on who you go to, it can be anywhere in the $350-800 range, some will even charge $30-40 an hour. I'd suggest searching on Autopia.org for a local detailer that can offer the same level of work.

Nice work, amazing looking car

Ineed - be careful of who you use tho, my ex got her 2009 car detailed by a "pro" and it is now swirled to hell. The car was in perfect shape and I warned her but she didnt think it would be a big deal, now when she sees the car under the lights in the garage she cringes (sure she feels the same in the sun too but I haven't seen her face after that).

The biggest difference I noticed was 1-2 microns, other than that, it was pretty consistent. The 203 is a mild cut, only in areas that were worked over more than once would a difference been possible.
