HAHA.....I did/do love the Absorber as well (in fact I still have it in the garage). But I am sure you will be getting lots o' replies stating that you should try waffle weave towels for drying.
I tried them and like them, still takes a little getting use to, but they do work. And how smoothly they go across the car you can tell that they are safer for the finish

I've been using only waffle weave towels so I can't say anything about your best friend. And I hate the chamois. How does the absorber work? Do you just roll it or something?

I have the absorber, and I love the thing. Works great, and you just wring it out, and it's ready to soak up a ton more water. I just make sure I keep it real clean, and wash it after each use. I actually have two.
So, what is the big deal with these waffel things?

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I have an absorber in the car closet which I've not touched since getting my MF waffle weave towel. The Absorber just doesn't feel as nice to the finish as a towel does.
The other thing is that drying with my big MF towel takes about a minute for the whole car, without having to wring.
The final reason I no longer use The Absorber, is that a few months ago I started using a spray-on wax to keep the finish up longer between waxes every 3/4 months. This wax is applied after washing, while the car is still wet. I'm sure The Absorber would make it streak quite a bit.

The Absorber has never touched this surface, and the proof is evident up close, and when in full sun. The Absorbers dry very well, dont get me wrong. But IMO, the Waffle Weaves are much safer...........
