my 1st rock chip :(

So I washed my car and noticed on my hood theres a rock chip to the metal about the size of a small fly. Is the best option buying some touch up paint? Well I went about 8 months without a chip I guess it was bound to happen.

Oh you just wait. You'll become a pro at reparing chips very soon.

Sal Zaino’s Paint chip repair
Here's a fix for the chips. Take isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and dab in only in the rock chip or scratch a few times. Take a clean towel and dry chip. Take a match out of a matchbook. Use the opposite end of the head. Dab this in touch-up paint. (Do not thin out touch-up paint) Very carefully dab a very, very minute amount in the chip. Do not get any paint anywhere other then the chip depression. The trick here is not to try to fix the chip in one application. Do this every day until the paint in the chip is even with the rest of the paint surface. If you do this correctly, you will hardly notice that chip repair and the color will match. Sal Zaino

You can also try the Langka Chip Repair Kit and it's also available at Autogeek and PAC.

A "Clear Bra" type of film protection will take care of this problem. It's worth every penny especially if you commute everyday.

I agree 100% with SweetJazz. One of the best investments you can make for your car. I've had it on for 18 months now and the bumper and leading edge of the hood is immaculate. Runs a search on "clearbra" or "Paint Protection Film" (PPF).
