Making the fake wood in our cars shine?

Hey guys, I've just bought an used Wood Acura Shift Knob, compared to my other wood in the car, the knob looks pretty damn dull.

When I wet it (armor all), the shine is back and it matches everything else, any suggestion on how to improve the knob's look?

thanx in advance.

Polishing your knob (I should add Gear Knob)

The wood trim in most vehicles (exception- Mercedes Benz uses real wood) is protected with a urethane clear coat, polyurethane or a thin lacquer, which is very easily scratched. Remove scratches with a fine polish (Groit's Fine Hand Polish) and then wipe with a damp 100% cotton towel.

Maintenance- use an anti-static plastic cleaner (BTI™ Chemicals Plexus Plastic Polish & Cleaner)

thanx for the advice.

the moment i apply damp cloth or the shine protector, the shine is back, and it matches my wood beautifully, but once that dries, its back to crap.

can i clear coat it, or something? if i cant do anything, i will take it off.
