A little DWG (Danase Wet Glaze) fun!

I started getting the itch to do something to the TL-S so I threw on another coat of Danase Wet Glaze (DWG). It has been a few months since I first found out how great a product this is. The only thing I do not like is that the DWG does not leave that "slick" surface. I have become so used to having a slick paint surface I followed the DWG with some Finish Kare 425 (FK425) quick detail spray. Gloss and slickness are off the chart! Plus it really helps with keeping dust managable since it is an anti-static product.

For those who own silver or white cars DWG is a great way to get that extra pop to your paint. Properly detailed dark colored cars speak for themselves but light colored cars seem to get lost out in the sunlight. DWG is a great product to make your light colored car stand out in the crowd.

Note:
  • Do not let this product dry or haze. It is difficult to remove if done so.
  • I apply using a foam applicator pad and complete one panel at a time. I apply a small amount and work it in until the panel is complete. I then wipe off using a Microfiber cloth and move to the next panel.
  • The Manufacturer says this product only requires a 30 minute cure time. I applied the QD within an hour of completion and had no issues.

I took a couple of pics. I'm still learning how to use the new Canon Digi Reb.

Yeah... You might want to put a sealant or a wax on top of it.

the dwg has its own protective qualities to it as well, so topping it will just prolong it....

While that may be the tried and proven method, DWG can actually be used as a topper or be topped with another LSP. I guess you didn't read the label and/or don't have some of DWG yourself.

Patrick,

Yes I have some. For me, it streaks way too much so I have relegated it for my wheels. It works great on the wheels. I have tried every method I know to get the ID&GE to work. It looks great and is as slick as the FK425 but the streaking is a show stopper for me. Any tips you may have would be greatly appreciated. I really like the product.

Oh man I love it. For some reason Ive become obsessed with using multiple coats of AW lately. Dont ask me why. Maybe its cuz Im using the company truck this week, and finally got a chance to really clean the truck up. And keep it clean for better then a week.
Anyway........i think I remember this discussion once before. I'm sorry we haven't resolved this dilemma! I have only had one other client talk about this occurring and he was able to resolve by using slightly less. He also upgraded the MF's to a little higher nap (Elites).
Ive had it streak on my Expedition, but was always able to remove it with the opposite side of the MF. Course you have that rich NBP which is difficult enough to begin with........
Something I found interesting with the IDGE is that the following day its even slicker. Lasts for about 10-14 days under ideal conditions. Dang, I wish I had a simple answer for you!!

This probably won't help you solve your problem SJ but I think it might be worth a look: http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/...y-vs-4058.html

Hey Denzil, just FYI, I have that same EXACT towel (Elite), for $3.95 vs AG's Supreme 530 Microfiber Towels $7.99.
Either AG is a rip off or Im not charging enough!

Actually, I'm not too fond of those 530 towels from AG. It seems as if they really are too thick. I'm much more happy with your Elite towels.

Patrick,

Do you know of anyone who has diluted the 32oz IDGE to 1 to 4 instead of the recommended 1 to 3? I just don't want to spend the money on a 32oz bottle if it does not work.

I haven't yet but I do still have a lot of the IDGE concentrate left from my quart bottle. I usually mix it up as I need more of it. The concentrate would just change from 25% to 20% so I don't think there would be a drastic change in product performance. Perhaps it may solve your streaking problem though. Oh yeah, I also use distilled water for best performance.

I havent had but one other concern about it, truthfully, so Im not sure of the results you would attain by further diluting it. It just hasnt been discussed alot. It may be just what the Dr. ordered though? Then again, if you really like the 425, i would continue its use there. I just hate to see someone dissatisfied or unhappy, with no explanation (from me).

Don't sweat it. I may call the manufacturer to see if they have any answers. This has been discussed in other detailing forums but I could not find any solutions. Thanks.

How would the color PMM (Polished Metal Metallic) look with DWG? Would there be much pop as with white or black cars?

DWG is best on darks, but serves an equally impressive service on lights. Distinctively different attributes......

I am not familiar with PMM but I am shure that DWG will take the paint to a new level. First, make sure your car has been detailed to gain the greatest contrast.
