Liquid Lustre Wax??

I was recently at the New York Auto Show this spring and bought some Liquid Lustre. It smells heavily of petroleum distillates. The wax was being demonstrated at the show as the everything wax - it resists fire, removes spray paint, bugs, tar, the whole list - you name it, this stuff will remove it.

So, despite the fact that I once had a career in detailing cars for a living, I bought some of it to try it out. I was a little nervous - this stuff basically smells like gasoline. I waxed my entire CL with it and was impressed at first. It might have done some clear coat damage but I did not see it. What I did notice first was that the wax really did last all that long - water beaded on the surface for maybe 5 days. It was however the first coat of wax the car had ever seen in 2+ years.

Does anyone have any experience using this wax? If so, is it safe for prolonged use? It is pink wax in a clear bottle.

A picture of the wax can be found at the link below:

thanks.

Just an FYI. Pretty much every carnauba wax product smells like petroleum for a reason. There is no such thing as a car wax with 100% carnauba. Carnauba in it's solid state is hard as a rock and would be next to impossible to use to waz your car.

When mixed with a petroleum product, it can be thinned to the point that it flows much easier.

So the next time you open a bottle of Maguires and say...Yuck it smells like kersoene, you'll know why

Sorry, I just wanted to repost this towards the top. I am interested in seeing if anyone has ever used this stuff.

Thanks.

I have been using this product for over 10 years and have seen no ill effects to any of my cars that have had this product applied to them. It's given my cars a real deep shine from my experience without the hard rubing or buffing. I have used it on my Mustang, G20, I30t, GS400, CL type S, Q45, and Accord V6.
