Talking Leather seat care.. is this enough?

Hi guys!

So i bought a 2010 Acura TL w/ Tech, and I've never owned a car with leather before.

I realized early on that the tech package leather (milano?) is softer and seems more easily prone to creases and scuffs.

So what I did was buy Meguirs Gold Class rich leather spray. I usually spray leather directly (or spray the terry cloth when going over the perforations) and just lightly wipe over it with the cotton terry towel.

I do that every 2 months for the driver/passenger seats, and every 3 months for the rear seats.

My question is.. is that enough to maintain them? Is there anything else I should be doing (better/different technique)? or any other leather cleaning products that may be better?

Also, any recommendations for products and techniques for dash/interior cleaning?

Thank You!

i would recommend 303 from dash cleaning, as it give the dash a flat black look and protects it from uv damage

yes, its enough...for the most part, if you just use a damp cloth and wipe them down, and then every once in a while use the meguiars leather care it will be good enough...

I used the same spray that you used. IMO it's better than the other cleaner/conditioners out there, but there were two demerits I found. It left a bit of a shine, and I found that some of the product would stick to your pants and make whatever you sit on afterwards slippery a few days after application.

I switched to Lexol leather cleaner, and IMO the leather feels much better. Zero shine, zero slip, I love it. I think a better combination to take care of the leather would be to clean it and protect it.

Best products to do that with is either Lexol, which I hear is the best OTC product, or Leatherique, which is kind of like boutique care for leather. Best protectant from what I've heard is 303 Aerospace Protectant. You can also use it other places, like your dash, or your engine bay.

Hope this helps

If you have a light colored leather be prepared for some dye transfer from your belts/clothes. I am dealing with this on my '08 TSX with parchement interior. Lexol cleaner doesn't clean off the color transfer.

Use Leather Masters Leather Protection Cream on all auto leather upholstery, especially light colours

Warm water moistened MF 2x monthly, followed by 303 or Optimum Protectant Plus Leather Care when necessary. Usually once or twice a season....If your seats are "grippy", its not a good thing, but you dont want them super slick either.

i do the damp microfibre weekly with my weekly washing...then i do the meguiars gold class leather wipes once a month followed up with a dry wipe down...keeps them perfect in my eyes...

Has anyone tried Zano Leather Cleaner and Conditioner on their car? I heard Leatherique is good but pricey at $50 for a 16oz cleaner and 16oz conditioner.

Why would you want to condition urathane (let alone spend $50 to do it)?

All it needs is proper cleaning, a protection product to guard againt spills, stains, etc and wiping periodically with a damp cloth

I use the Zaino products you've asked about and really like them-the smell is awesome. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Leatherique is more for correction of bad leather. It's terrific stuff-the Leatherique.

Zaino has a website to order from. Just search them I think they are located on the east cost and there is a distbr on the west cost too.

I also heard for damaged leather a place in Canada called Leather Doctor is very good for damaged leather. Believe it or not...there is a leather cleaning restoration forum out there. Just connect words and you should find it.
