I just ordered some leather care products from leatherique, and asked them If i could use horse hair brushes or microfiber towels to clean my seats and they is what they told me:

"We don't recommend any brushes as they are too harsh for fine leather and we don't recommend anything but soft cotton to clean, like old tee shirts. Allowing the Rejuvenator to soak in naturally and gently is best for the leather. Then clean with soft cotton as microfiber is a synthetic material and can be too harsh on fine leather."

I am a little confused I thought most auto detailers use horse hair brushed and microfiber towels or am I missing something? I'm sure if the seats would be in good condition / not too dirty then allowing the rejuvenator to soak in naturally would be fine but i just bought a sienna for my wife and the seats on that thing look like they haven't been cleaned in 3 years and need some serious help.

our leather isnt real. more of a synthetic man made material to hold up from abuse.
i use a brush on my TL's seats. to work in product...and for the bristles to poke in the perforated holes.
i then use a microfiber cloth to wipe up any excess...and if a spot is filthier than the rest, i usually put in a little elbow grease with the microfiber cloth

my product of choice is Lexol.

OP you have to be careful when using rags or brushes to not put too much pressure, as this can cause fading of leather in a spot or tears. Soft bristle brush is fine and I use microfiber to wipe and dry with little pressure. Again I do this to prevent damage and also leave a light coating of conditioner to sit and really soak to soften seats

If I end up using a brush it will be horse hair, I was just surprised that leatherique does not recommend any brushes or microfiber towel. I thought detailers use both all the time.

I've used lexol before but wanted to try leatherique in my minivan because it needs some serious cleaning.

What a weird response given that their own kit comes with a BRUSH that I just used on my car this last Saturday!

I have been contemplating this for a few months. Though for the time being this might be an option in cleaning up some of the stress marks near the top of the front seats. The newer seat design that they have on the 06-08 TL's are much better and can handle more abuse. Im just afraid that if I take a brush and some sort of leather cleaner/conditioner they will rip

Are you serious? Did you buy it directly from them?
