I need some help with a bad odor

I went snowboarding this past weekend and now there is an bad odor in my wifes car. It smells like dirty water and sweaty boots. I have used some cheap upholstery cleaner and that did not help. I tried a product called ozium and that did not help much either. I am pretty sure the odor is coming from the carpet. I have removed the floor mats and have them airing out.

Do you think putting baking powered down would help? I was thinking or renting a rug doctor and using it with the hose attachment on the carpet.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

do you have any idea if something was spilled or something was let to rot in the car? Check under the front seats for a sandwich or something that might have rolled down under.

For odors, the best thing to use is one of those spray cans which you put in your car, press down and close the doors. It fogs up and then slowly dissipates. I bought one from a store near me, I'll check out the container when I find it.

Nope nothing was spilled or left in the car and no is ever done in the car. I think the smell is from the dirty snow that was on our snowboard boots and the smell of the boots(rental boots that really stunk). I don't want to use something that will make the car smell like a fragrance I just want the smell to be gone. I am going to put baking soda on the floor and leave it over night then vacuum it out. Hopefully that will remove the smell.

I've also had very good luck using Arm and Hammer Odor Eliminator for carpets. Just sprinkle on and let it sit for a while before vacuuming out. When I used it the powder literally changed colors from all that it absorbed. my car smelled so clean afterwards

Identify its source

Without identifying and eliminating the source of the odour / mould you can't get rid of it, there are many products that mask odours; what you need to do is remove and clean the whole area (carpets, upholstery (inc foam) and etc) that is affected, including the headliner and metal floor pan.
