How hard is it to Zanio, (little experience)

Okay, im really convinced after seeing photo's of shawns ride w/ zanio like everyother week

The only car i've waxed before was my maxima and I did it w/ the orange bottle can't remember the name, something like nu wax or someting. And I remember it was a total BI@#$ to do. and it only looked good for about a week.

Can someone tell me how long it usually takes and how much it is to get started.

To start, you will need the:

1. Dawn dishwashing liquid (get at market)
2. Z18 -- Zaino clay - 16.95 (2 bars)
3. Z7 -- Zaino car wash - $7.95
3. Z1 -- Zaino polish Lok - $8.95
4a. Z2 -- Zaino clear coat polish - $12.95
4b. Z5 -- Zaino polish for swirls - $16.95
5. #314 4x5 terry applicator - $2.50

(Z5 is the swirl remover -- you may want to use this if your finish has swirls. You would replace the item 4 (Z2) with the Z5)

5. Super soft pure cotton bath sheet towels by Cannon or Fieldcrest (wee the www.zainobros.com site).

Wash car with dawn (some people do it twice, I did it once.
Clay the car with the Zaino clay and use the Z7 -- car wash in concentrated form as a lube. Clay until paint feels "smooth". Do it in the shade, and use PLENTY of lube!!!
Wash car with Z7 and dry it.
Apply Z1 with terry applicator on whole car.
When you finished applying the Z1, now apply the Z2 (or Z5 if you have swirls).
Now let the car sit for anywhere from 1 hour to ??? depending on the humidity and temp. On days in California with low humidity and 80 degree days, I'm ready in less than an hour, but wait the hour anyway.
Take super soft pure cotton bath sheet and remove the z1/z2 or z1/z5.

You have your basic protection.

From this point on you:

just use a car duster if it is only dusty, then apply some Z6 (gloss enhancer) with another bath sheet. Then Z2 (or Z5 if still see swirls). Wait for Z2 or Z5 to dry. Remove with clean bath sheet. Then use Z6 if you want super slick shine... (You can just do the Z6/Z2 or Z6/Z5 if you like)
BTW -- everybody has something different to say about this.

So, once you bust your butt on the first part (Dawn, clay, etc, etc), the rest is really just Z6/Z2.

Here is the price sheet:

http://www.zainobros.com/files/order.htm

Here is the main link with FAQs etc (you should print them out yourself and look all the stuff over yourself):

www.zainobros.com

Note: I generally put on a Z6/Z2/Z6 before I do a weekend travel run. When I come home, I spend about 30 minutes "tamping" bugs with a little distilled water (I just wet them). I then pull some small bath sheets that I cut up, and use them to remove the "bugs" and sh*t that collects on the front of the car. It beats having the bird sh*t and bugs eat into the finish. After about 30 minutes, the car looks great again.

Try that with some carnuba wax -- I have, and it didn't work too well.

Finally, you apply the Zaino over the all of the non-porous surfaces. I apply it to the windows, sunroof, grill, metal, everywhere. I like the protection it gives me.

If you havent done anything to your car yet, definitely clay it first! You will feel the difference! After claying a section, feel it with your hand, and then rub another non-clayed surface...whoh!

The best way to tell if the clay bar is needed is to buy some of those cheap plastic gloves. The clear plastic ones the guys in the deli use.

Put one on and slide your palm across your hood or roof, or any other surface. You will feel how much "stuff" is on your car.

Clay your car. Then do the glove test again. Smooth as a babies....

I actually got a little plastic glove with the mothers (i believe) clay bar. You should def. get one and feel the differences. It will make the couple hours you spent cleaning your car worth it.

IF Shawns pics don't convince you, look at mine. Look at the 300M pics first, then the CL.

You won't ever want to go back once you get the hang of the Zaino. My car looks better than the day I got it from the dealer, and it is almost a year old.

EricL-

Almost a YEAR old and ONLY 9 coats of Zaino? Got mine 3/28/01 and I already have 4 of Z2/Z6 and 2 of Z5/Z6. The more coats, the wetter the shine!

Same here. My car also looks better now than the day I drove it home from the dealer. And I've only got 2 coats of Z2 so far. I've also used the Z6 several times. I've yet to put a coat of Z5 on. I've also used the clay bar twice. I love the smooth wet almost mirror-like surface that the Zaino creates.

Oh yeah, and to answer the original question. It's not hard at all but you could find yourself getting addicted and spending way too much time on your car.

If you just want the basics you could just get Z1 and Z2 and that would replace any other wax or polish you would use. Everything else in the Zaino product line is not necessary but highly recommended.

Well now 10 coats....

I've already conceded the race to you (even though I've purchased enough "Supima" towels to do about 3 Zainos a week (if required)

I do notice the bugs getting easier and easier to remove with the water tamp, and Z6 routine after a long drive -- that's so nice!
