How do I get these results?

Hey guys,

I posted a thread asking members with Carbon Gray Pearl TSX's to post some of their after detail pictures to get an idea of how shinny a properly detailed CGP TSX could look. Anyway, one guy posted with a picture of his TSX that is unbelievable. Anyway, what would I have to do to imitate this look?

Thanks!

Jeff

P.s Could this be achieved with my DA G-100, or would I need a rotary?

Please follow the link, and look at MDKXTREME's photo!

Thanks guys!

Jeff

it would very hard to get great results with your hands, it is possible, but the time involved would be insane. You can get those results with a G110, just look the the Subaru I did, I just posted pics of it, and that was with a G110..its all in the products

Jeff, it just takes a little know how buddy! You can get amazing results with a RO or rotary. Product familiarization is real important. You have to know/learn what products can achieve what. And that all comes with practice.
What do you currently have?

I don't mean to threadjack, but it may be relevant. Obviously, everyone recommends one of the PC models. But in the absence of that, or as a stepping stone, what about a RO or orbital otherwise? If you can get one that's the same size as the PC, would that be a good way to get started in non-hand applications?

the other types of orbitals that are sold at walmart and other places are really just for applying and removing waxes, they are not professional grade defect removal machines...so no, i would say that your waisting your time and money with other types of orbitals...

Hey guys, I have the following products:

Meguiars G-100

Soft Buff 1.0 W8006 pads
Soft Buff 1.0 W9006 pads

Meguiars Swirl X
Megs #80
Megs#83
Meguiars Ultimate Compound

DG#105

That's all that I have in the way of polishing compounds go, so I'm wondering if I need to step up to something like the Optimum products.

I have used Swirl X on my entire car, which removed about 95% of the swirls, and the car is shinny, but it's no where near where I'd like it to be.

Anyway, I'd love some thoughts on what I should use or get to finally achieve the results that I've been longing to get!

Thanks!

Jeff

The W8006 pad - it definitely removed the swirls, but I'm just not getting the kind of gloss that I want (like that picture that I showed you). I'm getting some good reflections, but not so much of the "wet" look.

Also, Pat at Excel keeps telling me that Swirl X isn't abrasive, but according to Meguiars, it's a lot more aggresive than M80, and is 2 steps under ultimate compound, so I would think this stuff would be effective in solving my issue, but I'm not sure if I need to just use a different LSP, or perhaps a glaze?

My last detail, I put a coat of FS UPP on, followed by a coat of Dodo Purple Haze Soft Wax 24hrs later....

What am I doing wrong?

Im just going by what the label says?
SwirlX can be applied by hand or with our DA Polisher, and is a non-abrasive formula that gently smoothes away micro-fine swirl marks so you can have a flawless finish on all paints.
If anyone can spread some light, that would be great!
I dont think your doing anything "wrong"? Its maybe as easy as misapplication of products.
I would think with your list, that 83, followed by 80 would get most of it near perfect. DACP is quite effective, although not the most easiest of products to use. 80, on the other hand is an excellent finishing polish.
