I work for a railroad company. The other day I was forced to drive my good car to work and against my better judgement I parked under a bridge. As my luck would have it, it rained and the bridge leaked on my car. It dropped on the passenger side and I rarely see my car from that angle. Well yesterday I noticed orange stains on my front end and roof. I tried getting them off today with bug/tar remover and some elbow grease, they didn't budge. Is my paint ruined? Any ideas on what I can try? My friend at work said the water has lye in it from the bridge, I hope that's not true. Here's a pic, thanks for any help guys.
Try rubbing compound then finish with polishing compound.
If that doesn't work use lacquer thiner but be careful. Put some on a rag then wipe it on the stain to remove. However, do not let it seat for too long because it might eat into the paint, especially if paint is not OEM. Test a small spot first and have a dry rag ready to dry off if needed.
