Exclamation HELP!! Tire place scratched my wheels

Help!!!

I took my new RonJon Inspyres to have the tires mounted and balanced yesterday. Then I get them home and I'm cleaning them this morning and I notice small scratches all the way around the outer lip I called the tire place, and they said they don't have anything to take scratches out, but told me to bring them by.

I have not mounted the wheels on the car yet. And the scratches aren't deep and you can only see them when looking from a certain angle. Is it worth it to fight them??? Do they owe me new rims if the scratches don't come out??? what should I do??? Help!!!

this is exactly why I NEVER take my car to tire place/dealerships/etc. to align cars anymore. I go to this one place that ONLY does alignments, all done by hand. The guys are VERY careful not to scratch your wheels. I fought this after having a simillar incident at a dealership, the ended up refinishing my wheels, but I ended up getting them to REPLACE my wheels after writing a letter to the manager. I wasnt happy with the refinishing job.

edit: here is what happened to me: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=alignment

Get them re-clearcoated, and just make sure the place will pick up the tab before you do it. You don't need new wheels, especially if they aren't very deep.

The tire place did that to mine but it was barely noticable.

I waxed them before I put them on (like I would've done anyway) and the scratches were gone. They never showed back up either.

When I got mine, I took the tires and wheels to the most ghetto wheel place I knew of. You should have seen the place. Every employee car had huge chrome wheels, even on the shitiest car. I new they would take their time and be careful while putting on mine.

yep, looks like they were not careful when they clamped on the alignment device on your wheels.

maybe try some aluminum wheel wax, its tough to tell by the pics, so that may not work, but i would go back and bring it to their attention

Sorry, but those pics suck. Its hard to tell the damage. Try just rubbing them out yourself, but make sure you get money from the place first for messing them up in the first place. If that doesn't work and they're still noticable, get them re-cleared and have them pay for it.

Yes, I know the pics suck. That's why I said it looks much worse in person.

Anyway, went by the tire place. And they said they were just "marks", not "scratches". So some polish should take care of it. They suggested getting some Mothers to take the marks off, and to call back if that doesn't work.

fuckin messed up my Saturday

^ what? They're telling YOU to buy polish after they left the marks? wtf.. they should be doing it for you. What's the name of this place? I would definitely post it here so the rest of us can be sure to stay away!

Yea, same problem with my wheels when I had the tires changed. Nothing you can do about it... The scratches are only noticeable from close up. I'd leave it alone and just drive!

Scratching your wheels with an alignment is not sopposed to happen. Matter of fact, there are places out there that are careful and won't give you the

"sorry..we fcked up.. nothing we can do about it, now run along and buy yourself some polish son" line.

I dont care how minor or noticeable the scratch is, I would demand the shit get fixed and then go to a place that wouldnt do this to my car.
