Help with scratch, beginner attempting

Hello all,
My 2010 TL is metallic gray (Grigio gray) in color. I have a scratch that is about 5 inches long in a rear side panel. You can catch your fingernail on about 80% of the scratch, but it's not too deep. I have not been able to take a decent pic of it. It is just deep enough that i filled it with a scratch kit that came with the matching paint, a filler and leveler. I filled the scratch and used the touch up paint with the tiny brush they provide. The match is good but now it is not smooth. Should I try to wet sand and polish? What grit and steps should I use. I have a DA polisher to finish up with. I would really appreciate any specific direction as I'm new at this.I don't expect perfection, but would like to hide it as much as possible without causing further damage.

Thank you!

look into the blob eliminator system from langka: Langka - Blob Eliminator

! A few tips to help for the future:

1. Use a toothpick and dip it into the paint, and put the tip of the toothpick into the scratch. Capillary action will draw the paint into the scratch with less coverage on the good sections. Plus you don't have to worry about brush strokes.

2. Make sure the area is clean before doing any work.

3. If the fingernail catches the paint, it's deep and needs to be filled with color. Scratches not catching are in the clear and can be polished/compounded out.

So fill the scratch, let dry! THen follow up with blob eliminator and it'll look way better!

Thank you, I ordered the blob eliminator and I’m hoping it will work well. Any tips on using it? How high should the little mound of touch up paint be above the original paint before I go with the B.E. if that makes sense. Thank you for the tips!
