Durashine protective coat

Zeibart is offering this durashine gloss sealer procedure guaranteed for 10 years..., ( these are the sales guys pushing this and with the undercoating packages as you are finalizing your sale before leaving the dealership)....my question being is does good wax outweigh the benefits of this protective coat?... or anyone recommend?... you know they say with this sealer u never need to wax your car..etc..etc... and it protects the paint... just purchased a 2005 Acura TSX 5AT.

thanks, Marc.

How much and what guarantee are they backing it with? IMO, I don't think there is any protective chemical that will last 10 years. It will at some point in time breakdown due to surface contaminents and mother nature. I feel you are better off passing on their offer and purchase aftermarket products you can DIY. You'll be saving some $$ which you can use for other things.

I kinda agree on your point as it won't probably last that long, and besides usually you're kinda tired by the car after 10 years anyway...i guess its more out of convenience, (ie. not taking time to wax) although the only problem here is the winter time lasting 4 to 5 months here in Ontario...but many are faced with the same issue...cannot wax the car in the winter time unless it is done from the touchless car wash ...although not certain if that is good either...

thanks for your reply!

Marc, I understand your dilemma. Hopefully, some of your fellow canadians has an answer as to how they maintain their cars during the winter months. IMO, you could probably apply a sealant like Poorboy's EX-P or Klasse SG before the weather changes. That should give you up to 6 months of protection with washes and minimal manitenance in between. At this point, I'm assuming a lot mainly because I haven't experienced severe winters.
