Dodo Purple Haze has arrived - question - TODD?
Hey guys,
Well, my Dodo Purple Haze Wax is finally here. I'm not sure if I'm going to get around to using it today (weather), but if I end up doing so, should I remove the existing 2 coats of Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection, or can I apply a coat of the Dodo on top of those? I'd really love to hear Todd's thoughts on this. Would I get a better shine if I strip all of the selant and then apply it directly to the paint? I'm really curious to see how this stuff performs!
Thanks!

Just wash the car and apply the wax right over top of it. PH goes on very easily and a little goes a long way.
If you're not happy with the results, or you just want to compare, then go back, strip it off, apply the PH all by itself, and see what you think.
I don't have personal experience with the Four Star, and not sure if there are any bonding issues with it. Perhaps somebody with experience with it can chime in on this one.

Do you think multiple coats of the Dodo PH will increase the shine and "wetness?"

It probably would. Just give it 24 hours to cure between coats...let the car sit in the garage, and do a quick wipedown (dust) before applying. You can also inspect it before the 2nd coat to make sure you applied the first coat correctly (no streaks or haze).

Since Purple Haze is a soft wax, you'll notice the texture may not be the same as other waxes you are used to. It's easy to use more product than is needed, so try to use as little as possible and spread it thinly.
Be sure to keep us posted on your results of Purple Haze.

i cant imagine that a second coat would do anything, since carnuba is soo soft, its just going to melt into the other coat....i am sure you will have fun experimenting with it....
and yes, i would use the ph as a topper on a sealant like upp...you wont beable to do it the other way around....

Hey guys! I finally got around to using the Dodo PH today. I washed with ONR, and then applied a coat of PH. I really like this stuff, but I have a rather stupid question. Since it's a soft wax, how much do I want to use? I guess my question is, do I want to just swipe my foam applicator across the top of the wax until the yellow part of my foam applicator becomes purple, or do I want to actually dig into the wax?
Also, since the sun isn't out today, I will wait till tomorrow to take some photos. However, I will apply a second coat before the photos. How do I want to clean the dust that accumulated on the car overnight? What product would be best to use so that I don't strip the wax, and or cause any kind of streaking when I apply a second coat.
Thanks much!
Jeff

^^^yep, what they said!
If you don't have compressed air or similar, you could take a mf towel and do a very light wipedown...meaning, don't apply pressure with it. I can do this with my NBP without inducing any kind of marring.
If you have one of the oval applicators, lightly swipe it on the wax, and then fold the applicator's face on itself and work it in so that there's an even distribution of wax on it (priming the pad!). You want a light, even distribution of wax...not caked on! With it being purple, you can easily tell how well you have it coated.
Each LSP has its own learning curve (just like polishes), so don't sweat it. It may take a couple of times before you get the application and system dialed in.
