Do we really need a Leather cleaner?

My understanding is that the Japanese leather is not 'naked' as compared to German leather which is -- The Japanese leather (TSX) is topped with vinyl or plastic so question is, does it do any good to use a leather cleaner/conditioner such as Leatherique or Lexol? Recommendations?

You're cleaning the protectant on the leather, not the leather. Try some Woolite with warm water and a Microfiber, should be good to go. Give it a damp (water) wipedown couple times a month to keep dirt from building up, then a UV protectant like 303 every other month or so.....
