Detail Steps and Products, What do ya think?

Here's what was highly recommended to me by the kind folks at Autopia, what do you all thinks? I have bad swirls and minor scratches, thus the compound, etc.

1) Wash (Sheepskin Mit, NXT soap); Dry with Microfiber WaffleWeave
2) Clay (Clay Magic)
3) Wash again; Dry
4) Use PC with 3M Perfect- It III Rubbing Compound- orange foam pad (Lake Country)
5) Follow up on PC with 3M Perfect- It II Machine Glaze on PC- white foam pad (Lake Country)
6) Vanilla Moose
7) Top it off with Poorboys EX

Well theres over 20,000 opinions over there! Personaly I dont use 3M, I use Megs 80 or 83 for swirls, VM is great, Fourstar UPP or Blackfire. NXT on rare occasions.....PC with Propel Pads.....I havent had good luck with PB's durability.....Theres several of us Autopians here also....

Is Meguiars a personal preference, or did you have a bad experience with 3M? And what would you recommend to team up with Vanilla Moose? I am not keen the Klasse products which tend to highlight the inperfections in paint, and I don't think I am going to get all the defects out.

But one opinion we all agree upon- it really does all come down to; 85% preparation, 5% product, 7% application method and the balance is in the ‘guy’ of the beholder.

Very true Jon, part of that 85% prep is also knowing what product to use....proper product selection is often overlooked, and i really dont think enough attention is given to that dept. You cant properly prep, without the proper
product(s)......

Well the good thing about the 3m Perfect-it RC you use is that it doesnt contain any fillers. So any swirls that you remove during your process are GONE, not hidden. Almost all meg's polishes have fillers in them. Dacp not so much, but #80 has a decent amount. Not saying Meg's is bad at all, just saying i prefer a polish with NO fillers at all. Otherwise, TLprospect, your process looks good!
