Dealer wax/solvent

Not sure of a sub-forum for this so main it is.

So I was watching a dealer today apply a substance that was liquid in nature (like a meguires wax texture) but it was actually part wax/part solvent. They use it to remove scuffs and things like packaging tape from new cars. I thought it said "APEX" or something on the bottle but cannot recall. Anyone know what this stuff is called? I was going to search the net to see if it is available to the public.

Perhaps they can help here in the Wash and Wax section.

It was probably a polish compound wax......... (The Wash & Wax guys should find that amusing!)

But honestly, I cant see a product being a wax and a "solvent" as you call it. To remove scuffs you would need to use a polish and to remove packing tape or tape residue you would need something like Goo Gone or Stoners Tarminator.

If you are wanting to know what it is so you can get some.... I would stay away from it. If the dealership was using it, its probably some cheap stuff they buy for $20 a case and is worse for the car.

If you have some issues with your car you need help with let us know and we can recommend some products. Good luck!

Thanks folks. Well it definitely removed tape residue then left a waxy film that was buffed off so I am not sure what it was called but I'll go back and find out in case you'd like to know (I know I would).

Anyway, thanks for the offer of assistance. No issues just yet (OTHER THAN, of you can believe this, A HOOD CHIP 8 hours into the new car!). I am PRAYING the dealership will take pity on me even thought it was after I took delivery and fix it for me so wish me luck!

Be prepared for many more hood chips. Acura's paint chips VERY easily. I wouldnt worry about having them fix the chip unless you were going to have a clear bra put on.
