Cleaning the wheels with ONR!

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good way to clean the wheels when doing an ONR wash? I don't have access to a hose, so I have to rely soley on the ONR. Anyway, I've been using a MB towel dipped in the ONR to clean the wheels (been doing those last), but now my MB's are unbelievably dirty. So, I was wondering if there was a better method? I was thinking about using a rim brush and then just letting the ONR dry on it's own, but that's probably not a good idea. Anyway, I was just wondering if there was a good method for cleaning the wheels without acquiring the super dirty towels afterwards? If I had access to a hose, I would simply spray the ONR or a dedicated rim cleaner and then rinse it off, but I don't currently have that luxury. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Search youtube. I cannot remember if it was DB, autopia, or AG that has a dedicated ONR section, I have it saved at home, but i'm at work. basically the guy in the video used OPT power cleaned, had a bucket with the NRW in it, washed wheels like normal, and just kept dipping back into the bucket till it looked as if no more brake dust was seeping from anywhere, then used a dedicated wheel towel and dried them....just check on youtube for further info on his method.

Hey Pat,

I'm going to order one of those drill attachments today! That thing looks like it works great!

Also, what is the DG that you're talking about? Can I just mix ONR with Water in the mister thing that I bought from you - spray it on the rims, hit them with that drill brush attachment, and then simply wipe them off? Please let me know!

Thanks,

Jeff

Both are totally useful, thanks to both posters

Patrick, would you recommend the drill attachment brush, or would I be better off purchasing a different brush? I will mainly be using whatever I purchase on a 2007 TSX with the OEM rims (very open spokes). So, I'm not sure if something else might work better. Any thoughts? I definitely need to get something though!

Also, how are you guys currently washing your door jambs and the kick panel that has the Acura emblem when you open the door? I was thinking about dipping a Microfiber in ONR, wiping it down, and then drying. Will that suffice?

JLTSX07,

This is what I do to clean my wheels using ONRWS:
  1. Use 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon sprayer to soak the wheels and tires. Don't for get the backs of the wheels.
  2. Let the solution set for about 5 minutes. I only do one side of the car at time because I do not want the solution to dry up.
  3. I prep about 3-4 gallons of ONRWS solution in a 4-5 gallon bucket.
  4. I use a soft bristle brush and a MF towel to wash the wheels and tires. The brush is primarily for the tires.
  5. After I wash two wheels and tires I dry them using a waffleweave MF towel. I only blot dry the tires.
  6. Last, I go over the wheels with Optimum Spray Wax or my favorite detail spray (Finish Kare 425).

Now there's pampering and obsession at its best........

SweetJazz

You use 3-4 gallons alone for the rims...?

Curious...Isn't that an excessive amount of product for the rims alone?

If you have a 5 gal bucket, its hard to get brushes totally saturated with less then a few gallons of water. Throw a GG in there and its even less!
