Cleaning smell/spill off peforated leather seat
Hi all,
I'm trying to get a smell out of my car - breadsticks that had a bit of butter in them, and they spilled on the seat. The seat itself cleaned off easily, but the smell remains, a little on the leather itself, but mostly where the stitching is.
I've tried Maguier's leather cleaner/conditioner to no effect, as well as their odor spray, which just masks it over for a few days, then the smell returns full strength 3-4 days after I sprayed.
I've got some Griot's garage cleaner to try next, but how can I kill this smell off? I have a free detailing being done on thursday and they said they'd try, but given I've failed at every turn, I'm a little scared they will fail as well. What can be done? Am I stuck with this smell now?
Obviously if I turn the seat heater on, it only makes things worse - and given I go skiing in the winter and drive people up, the heater WILL be used, so I really want to head this smell off once and for all.
Thanks!
RA

The Old Grey Whistle Test
Use a leather cleaner (Leather Master Foam Cleaner) that is both safe for the stitching (no harsh cleaners or solvents) and one that contains a surfactant, to lift the residue so that it can be rinsed away.
Once you have removed the residue the odor will go away, however if the odour has permeated other surfaces use PŪRWorld a spray application deodorizing product (not a cover-up scent)
