Cleaning Raised White Letters

I take care of a neighbors car and I am having trouble getting the raised white letters on the tires clean. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to use?

Cleaning the brake dust and road grime from tires is easy.
You need a stiff tire brush and a tire cleaner. I like Meguiars tire brush and P21S wheel cleaner(Yes it cleans the tire) Wet the tire and spray the p21s on the tire. Then scrub with the brush and rinse. Also clean the wheel while your cleaning the tire, but don't use the tire brush. For cleaning the wheel use the meguiars wheel brush.
Heres a link.

My dad had white lettering tires when I was a kid. We used an SOS pad........works great!

I tried Meg's All Purpose and gave them a good scrubbing with not much success. I used to do the SOS pads back in the day, so I will give those a try next time.

Thanks for the feedback

300 grit wet sand paper...take a 1/4 sheet, fold over and use a little water while you scrub away...comes out really nice

A good old stone from the garden will do just fine. I used to use pumice on my Tahoe tires, but I broke it into pieces while using it one day (strong like bull ) so I just grabbed a half-fist size pebble/stone out of the garden and rubbed it against the white letters. Worked just fine.
