Clay Bar on Dealer-Applied Teflon Paint Protection?????

I've done a "search" on a-cl.com, and came up with nothing.

Here's my question: Is it worth using a clay bar on dealer-applied Teflon paint protection?

I had the dealer apply the Teflon when I bought my car, and I don't regret it at all. The car never needs waxing, and looks brand new, just with a wash (check my pics)!

The problem is that even though the car shines like mad, it's not smooth to the touch. Over time, I've lost that "smoothness" that you can feel after waxing your car.

I've read that just using a clay bar on clear coat makes the paint very smooth to the touch (then followed by a wax). I would like this same result. I guess I could achieve this result by waxing the car, but that defeats the purpose of the Teflon.

Anyone ever tried clay-barring Teflon? Am I flawed in even considering this? Any feedback is appreciated [although debating the merits of having dealer-applied Teflon is moot--I already have it!].

Thanks!

i feel as if it shines... then thats your best bet.. i wash my car 3 times in a row with zymol and i do a good job, a huge bucket of water (plus zymol) and 3 buckets of elbow grease.. when i rinse it and dry it with my shamois and then terry cloth,. its so nice, the mirror - esque shine that i get is lovely. i never messed with a clay bar. but i have detailing clay i never touched it but it looks like a hair gel container.
good luck with that teflon-paint protection problem but my method works well.. if theres areas when something could come off after a wash, i use formula ps21 its white cream that wipes damages to the paint out.
if u have questions about it . PM
other than that-
peace
goodluck dust
ps- i figured out how to post- chek my subs in A/V-

Your best bet is to clay an inconspicuous area and then pour some water over it and see if it still beads. If it doesn't bead, then you need to apply some protection over it. Carnauba or polymer should work.

nsx is right - do the test - and if it doesnt bead up - you may wanna take it back for a refund -

no way a simple claying should remove something that is supposed to last a year . . .

i cant really see why it would remove it though - a simple claying is not that hard on polymers and acrylics -
