Car wash question - Orbital Buffer?
Hi all,
I've been reading alot of the car wash threads and I guess the best thing to do is buy Zaino's line of product. Specifically Z1 and Z2 .... Z5 (swirl remover) is still a toss up since alot of people have said they didn't think it work that well.
My main question is that I notice some of you guys use a machine buffer to apply the products. I was always told that those machine cause swirl marks. I have an orbital buffer and on the box it says does not cause those dreaded swirl marks. So I'm not sure what to believe.

a lot of it is technique. What type of orbital? Is it like a random orbital, ala the Porter Cable or a true orbital? Random orbitals are easy enough to use that you should feel confident just doing a little reading on forums and asking questions to have a go with it yourself. I've only ever used a porter cable though, so I have no experience with a true orbital. PC has always done what I needed it to do, so never found a desire for one.

For years I used a random orbital buffer with Mequiar's High Tech Yellow (#9, I believe) because it was the only way to AVOID swirls. I also used it with Zymol Carbon Paste for a final buff and got great results. The Mequiar's recommended a buffer, while the Zymol didn't, but (possibly due to the humidity where I live) it seemed necessary to get a really clear shine because the wax never seemed to totally harden.
However, when I switched to P21S I found that it was much easier to get superior results without a buffer. It seems to hardnen quickly, even in coastal SC. Very little effort is needed to remove the wax. Buff with a micro-fiber towel and you should be happy with the results.
Also, in a very humid climate (like where I am) it will cake up in a heartbeat and be a real pain to use.
Out of curosity - has anyone used a buffer with Zaino? Just how different is that to apply from a carnauba based wax?
