Buffing leather
I'm a noob when it comes to leather care so bare with me-
My TL's leather at 145k miles is still in decent shape, but it has a little bit of a shine to it- especially on the steering wheel. I noticed in that lexus advertises that they "hand buff" the steering wheel in the new LS. Is this a possible way to recondition leather? I'm trying to get the "shiny" leather on my steering wheel back to like new which was soft with a little bit of texture. Would this involve an actual buffer, what materials would be needed, etc?

Consider that marketing. One reason leather is used is its durability. The reason its appears shiny is simply due to attrition from your hands, as well as the natural oils your hands emit from heat and sweating. Youve been hand buffing your steering wheel, since the day you started driving it! It is naturally degrading due to these circumstances. Giv it a good cleaning with some leather cleaner or Woolite to bring it back to as near new, as possible....
