Best window cleaner and corresponding paper towels?

Hey, what brand of glass cleaner and what brand of paper towels do you guys use to clean the glass on your CL's?

There are lots of diferent glass cleaners out there, I don't really have a favorite.

-But for paper towels, I prefer newspaper by far.

I never really thought there was a difference between them.
I just use Windex and those BLUE heavy-duty paper towels.
I think they are called Shop Towels.
I buy them in a 10-pack at Sams Club.

I actually use Windex and newspaper.
A friend and I used to own a tinting business. We used newspaper because it cleaned the best and did't leave any lint behind.
Try it.... you will like it.

windex and newspaper...although if u have tint, i've heard that windex isn't good for it...something about the ammonia messing up the tint...

Current: Wurth Glass cleaner, then Zaino glass polish.

I've got a bunch MORE stuff *and* am still experimenting.

Griot's has some lint free wipes (polypropylene?), but I still haven't made up my mind about them. (I've been using them, but I like the Shell station brown paper towels better)

I grabbed about 20 sheets of these newspaper like brown paper towels from my local Shell station. I would like to be able to find out a wholesaler/dealer that sells them. They work like newspaper, but don't have any ink on them (my local newspaper's ink bleeds). NO streaks; no lint; no outgassing left. They come in a 5"-7" roll and are made for those gas station dispensers at the pumps.

i agree with cee el es.
damn, if your friend has a tint shop and uses windex, thats a pretty bad thing!
the ammonia in windex makes the tint film peel apart from the glass. i bought a special spray from my tint shop that has some kind of silicone in it. it leaves the glass smooth without a haze and protects the film. good stuff. bout $5 a bottle

I use an ammonia free windex that comes out in a foam instead of spray. It works great w/out streaking. I use the same blue shop towels that shawn uses, no lint. You could get the foam windex at contractor warehouses.

Anyone have any opinions of the Eagle ammonia free spray for tinted windows? It has alcohol instead of ammonia. Any problems with tint? Thanks

Try Staples. or any office/building supply. These are also similar to what you would find in lavatories...

I read from a local msg board

Newspaper, Vinager and water works the best.
I haven't tried it but i think will give it a try tomorrow.
I am using some tint safe Eagle1 glass cleaner
its pretty good!

rp_carbiz 02-19-2001 03:29 AM

I run a car detail biz, and the best thing I have ever found to use is terry towels. Just like a hand towel or a wash cloth. And to make sure the glass is cool to the touch and make sure not to do the cleaning in the sun light. If you do not have tint I would use a mild glass cleaner.

On my CL-S, I do not use glass cleaner due to the metal tint on my windows.

Another thing to try is just plain water on a towel and a dry towel to dry it off.
