Another filthy Interior....

Jakes_tl 07-12-2018 06:34 AM

Wow that is disgusting! I just can't understand how can anyone get into a car like that.

justnspace 07-12-2018 07:07 AM

I kinda wanna buy a ford transit van and start a mobile detailing company..."it's JustIN the details!" harharhar get it!?

anyway, if i could charge $125-150 for interior cleaning, that would be boss.
hopefully that didnt take you more than two hours, Jon

Hey Justin, CUT him some slack, the seats, alone, look like a THREE HOUR job to me! I'd charge $225.00, to straighten that NASTY MESS out. The sad part is, it will probably look pretty much the same, in two or three weeks'!

90foxnotch 07-12-2018 09:19 AM

Well they definitely did not turn out amazing but are much better, and unfortunately Im only getting 100 for this job but this guy sends me a lot of business. I am too nice and usually charge $80 for wash, clay bar, wax, then I clean the whole interior. Buff/polish are obviously extra. I'd say I had about 2 hours or so on the whole interior.

Im totally use to this because I worked at a dealership and got a lot of auction cars, so this was a common occurrence haha I just wish people would at least buy some rubber floor mats-they do so much for your carpet. Honestly I blame the parents because this woman has a kid and obviously they get to eat and drink whatever in the car and act like an animal.

justnspace 07-12-2018 09:27 AM

I've been wanting to try "Silicone pot scrubbers" to get rid of dog hair in carpet quicker.

90foxnotch 07-12-2018 10:11 AM

If I have a really hard time I usually use a rubber dog hair brush, it's a rubber brush you wear like a glove works pretty well! But yeah those pot scrubbers look like theyd work too

08KBP_VA 07-12-2018 12:07 PM

Would an extractor have had any better results on that?

90foxnotch 07-12-2018 12:12 PM

Ive got a mini extractor. It looks better, posting pics later

just wondering if you assess vehicles before accepting the job and do you discuss customer expectations?
like..."look man, i'll try my magic but that shit dirty as fuck..."
but not like that,,,but like more professional...

lol

^I honestly am wondering that too. Do you charge a "yeah, you're a dirty MF" rate on cars like this?

justnspace 07-13-2018 07:08 AM

just wondering because maybe I can turn a hobby into some side cash

90foxnotch 07-13-2018 08:01 AM

Well yes that's exactly what I did, after looking at it I told him "Y'know this aint gonna look perfect right?" hahaha and he said he understood. This guy knows my work usually turns out almost new and there was not much more I could do. You cannot see in pics but there are small holes in spots and it was so matted down from her hauling her dog everywhere. I love my dogs but sorry, they don't get a lot of car rides haha

If you really enjoy doing it and are prepared to take on jobs like this on a regular basis then I totally would Justin. My side jobs fund some of my car parts for sure. Funny thing about this car is that the paint was in pretty good condition and looked great after a claybar, wash, and wax. I forgot to snag a pic of exterior, was a little busy with that interior

90foxnotch 07-13-2018 09:47 AM

Haha yup that's my boy Reggie. He does love car rides!!!

Do you have the specs on the extractor and does it work well? I have been pricing and they are stupid expensive all the ones I have found.

90foxnotch 07-16-2018 12:42 PM

Its the Bissell Mini Green machine. I think theyre about $100 or so. They are not as good as the commercial ones at shops but it does a good job for what it is. All you do is add hot water and your choice of cleaner and its all set.

I use the Bissell Mini Green machine as well. It does a respectable job. Picked mine up at the local Good Will, NEAR NEW condition, for $17.00!

90foxnotch 07-17-2018 09:04 AM

That's a steal! Yeah I agree it's not the most powerful but for most of the cars I do it does a good job

Wtf... The inside and outside, done properly, is like 250 here. If polishing is included, 450-550, all in, depending on how bad the Paint is. I've seen detailers charge as much as 750 for everything, here.

90foxnotch 07-17-2018 10:30 AM

Paint wasn't bad at all, I did not have to buff it. Just wash, clay, wax. I agree I definitely should've charged more but he sends me business so Im okay. I did his 16 Mustang Friday and it was a piece of cake, easy 80 bucks.

ericwudi0830 11-13-2018 06:47 PM

ericwudi0830 11-13-2018 06:50 PM

Sometimes I think it is best to just open the side window by an inch and stick a garden hose in the car. Turn it on and hope for the best.

Some people are unworthy of any car. I'd hate to see their home.

My Honda CR-V after 14 harsh winters where we get lots of snow, slush and salt. The carpets have never been shampooed; all it ever got was a very light vacuuming every spring. Of course my system to keep slush and salt off the carpets helped.

Looks good to me! I always tell people to please buy some rubber floor mats or go big and buy the good WeatherTech ones. They will save your carpets

They have been removed for the light vacuuming the original carpets got after a long hard winter and to wipe down the plastic trim.

Otherwise they look like this all winter long...

A dollar chami is placed between the Pants Saver and the plastic sheet under them to soak up salt/slush as it overflows the Pants Saver.
Those mats and others like it are useless.
