![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Decided to devote some of this holiday weekend to my car. Took the advice of many on here and bought some Duragloss Spray Wax to save a little time and also because it is without cleaners and should therefore layer. For the first application, after washing does it make sense to apply my old NXT Spray Wax first to let the mild cleaners remove some surface residue and then use the Duragloss, or is this just an unnecessary step? I realize that there are better products out there with cleaners in them, but I'd like to use what I have. Thanks in advance for your expert advice...

I'm no expert, but if i had it, i'd use it. I think your plan sounds reasonable. Definately the AW on top though. some NXT users have reported durability issues, yet enjoy the ease of use.

Use the AW only after the NXT has had time to set. Otherwise your going to end up with hazing and smearing issues (Color dependant). Let the NXT oils evaporate, then use AW. Also, AW was designed to be used while dying. You will usually get about 3 washes before slickness drops off. It does freekishly layer though. The stuf is just plain ol weird, but awesome. I dont know how the Duragloss Bros' did it, but they have quite a product on hand. I considered, actually I started using it today on a quick detail but opted to go with Four Star Ult. Paint Protectant Spray. I just had more peice of mind going with the spray sealant. (Story forthcoming)

Thanks for the replies. I have a couple of follow up questions. First, my car is a SSM TL-S, so I suspect that color less prone hazing and smearing than some, am I right? Also, should it be standard procedure to use the NXT spray wax each time before using AW? I thought I would do it for the first application of AW, but are you saying that I should use something to clean the surface EVERY time before using AW? Thanks again for your help...

Nah, it's not etched in stone using any type of spray wax before AW. I basically use it as an extension layer to prolong the initial layer of protection (in my case, UPP). AW should be used on a clean suface, you don't want to trap any between the layers. I usually apply it after drying, but can be applied to a wet surface then dried. I'd would do one section at a time, tho.
