400,000 Mile Legend, Showroom Clean
Shared this on Autopia but an AZ member said I should post it here as well, so here goes...
I have owned this car since early 2003, and I bought it with 95,000 miles on it.
It's a 1994 Acura Legend LS coupe 6-speed. Still on the original engine, transmission, clutch, axles, exhaust, suspension (I have every receipt for every dollar spent on maintenance throughout the car's lifetime).
Recently had the roof, mirrors, hood, front fenders, and front bumper painted (fading and rock pitting consistent with age and mileage). All other paint is original.
This was the most involved detail I've ever done. Completely scrubbed and detailed undercarriage. Spent nearly an entire day on the engine, and a couple hours on the interior. I am currently using Meguiars Carnauba wax (step 3) along with a Mother's clay bar kit. Tires shined with Meguiar's Hot Shine and interior treated with Poorboys Natural Look.
The local Acura dealership is using the car as part of a high-mileage Service Department campaign, so it went into the showroom last night.
Current mileage...
And the unveiling...
Scrubbed & painted wheel wells and undercarriage.
Repainted brake calipers.
300,000 miles worth of dealership service receipts

Looking forward to the next 100,000 miles.

I am blown away at how great that car looks.
I don't remember where the thread is now but I remember about a year ago or so, there was an '88 Legend Coupe that had I believe somewhere below 1,000 miles on it. It was owned by a rich doctor from the Hamptons and he never drove it. The back seats had never been sat in. It was truly amazing and it was being sold for something like $15K at an Acura dealership. Really cool.
Well done!

Wow, that's amazing! Great looking car man
Just curious, and you don't have to say if you don't want to...but did the dealership give you anything for using your car in their showroom? (or for spending so much money on maintenance through the dealership)? Looks like it really paid off though!

Amazing. Great work on keeping this car so nice, and for so many miles. Honda/Acura products are great when taken care of. Good luck with it and be sure to stick around with updates.

Now who has better quality and longevity in their cars Acura, Infiniti, or Lexus?
I haven't read anywhere of a Lexus or Infiniti lasting 300,000 miles on the web.

however, I have to say that the Legend (in general) definitely looks better design-wise than most any other car of its age.

Wow, and toyota/lexus are the only ones that come close for reliability/longevity in my book

I just had my emissions inspection done a few days ago and the highest odometer reading their system would allow the technician to put in on the printout was 255,000. Bogus! Then when I went to register my car, the lady at the DMV did a triple-take when she read through my paperwork and saw the mileage. LOL

Man that is one very clean and well maintained car. Excellent job! Hopefully the new owners take as good care of it as you did.
Edit: Sorry I thought you were selling as it was in the dealership but I just read that you are looking forward to the next 100,000 miles and you're not selling. Good luck!

I stole your idea for tracking the maintenance / repairs in Excel I added a few extra collumns, such as 'Category' and 'Link to Receipt'. I thought this might help later when doing a cost analysis on the car, in terms of how much I put into non-scheduled maintenance vs. scheduled, etc. I just got my TL in August, so I'll see how good I am at keeping up with scanning the maintenance receipts, haha.
Oh, and I saw you answered my one question regarding if the dealership gave you anything for letting them use your car, and I do agree - seeing your car on display at the local dealer like that is reward enough!
