Have a professional install the clear bra. This is not a DIY type of job you get right on the first try.

Check sites like Xpel. They have a dealer directory and most of them them are factory trained.

Well, here's my on the subject:

I got my car from a dealer in Dec 03 and had the clear bra professionally installed before I took possession of it (part of the bargaining...dealer paid for it) LOL. I have had it on now for 2.5 years now and it looks as good today as the day it was installed. The only thing to be careful of with some areas of the country is that there are some bugs with very high acidity in them, so it is recommended that you don't let the car "bake" in the hot sun for 4 or 5 days after a road trip before washing it. Even then, I used Zaino's concentrated car wash on it and they practically fell off the bra. Anyway, yes, I would highly recommend a clear bra and professional installation...and mine has a 8 yr warranty and full replacement if defective or damaged and is considered OEM because of the quality of the material and installation.

One thing I did do to my 04 TL is I ordered clear covers for my headlights (same basic material but I believe it is 14 mm thick instead of the 8 mm that the clear bra is made of. These are a DIY job. 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water in a spray bottle, spray the light and the back of the film, position, then use the squeegy provided to force out the water (much like window tint installation). You will have to use a blow dryer though to make sure it is flexible enough to adhere. I don't remember off hand which company I ordered them through (bought them like 2 yrs ago), but am sure there's a thread or link of some kind in one of the forums. At over $600 to replace a headlight unit, $70 for the pair was money well spent in my opinion.

Sorry if this is a little long-winded, but hope it will help you out in some way.

Good Luck,
Rob

I bought the clear bra

I just purchased my 06 TL last month, and had the 3m clear bra installed a couple weeks later. There are a couple companies that do this. There's Ston Guard which has gone out of business, Invinca Shield, and XPel. I used XPel. They did a great job, were cheaper than Invinca Shield, and supposedly the Xpel product has fewer relief cuts, which makes for a better looking install. Check out their website for an installer in your area.

I had my clearbra installed by the dealer when I purchased the car. It may cost a bit more than a DIY, but at least you'll know that it was done by a professional and if for any reason you were to get into an accident, your insurance should cover the replacement of a new one. Here's a link to the product used...

I had a clearbra installed on my pathy in '99, by '04 it was starting to haze and was looking bad. I ended up having to wetsand to blend the protected part of the hood to the unprotected. But it was a small price to pay since the hoodline has no chips

I think some of the installs including the PPF can start start at about $600 and goes up from there. Do a search for "clearbra install" and see what comes up.

If you get it installed professionally, the clear bra is usually warrantied against premature hazing. I just had my hood portion replaced for free since it was beginning to get cloudy.
